Headed down south to a lake without a pine
And I’m thumbin’ my way into Callville fine
Starin’ up the bay
Pray to God I see star lights

I made it down Lakeshore in three hours
Pickin’ me a bouquet of Blackbush flowers
And I’m hopin’ for dock carts
I can see my friends tonight

So rock me mama like a houseboat reels
Rock me mama anyway you feels
Hey mama rock me
Rock me mama like the wind and rain
Rock me mama like a big wake can
Hey mama rock me

Runnin’ from the cold up in Utahland
I was born to be a sailor and an old-time dock hand
My baby knows the boat ropes
I roll in an open bow

Oh, the Lake Mead summers keep a getting’ me now
Lost my money payin’ rent so I had to up and move
But I ain’t a turnin’ tack
To livin’ that old life no more

So rock me mama like a houseboat reels
Rock me mama anyway you feels
Hey mama rock me
Rock me mama like the wind and rain
Rock me mama like a big wake can
Hey mama rock me

Boatin’ to the south out of Sandy beach
I caught a boater out of Echo
Had a nice long toke
But he’s a headed west from the Lake Mead Narrows
To Temple Bar, Arizona

And I gotta get a move on before the sun
I hear my baby callin’ my name
And I know that she’s the only one
And if I die in Lake Mead
At least I will die free

So rock me mama like a houseboat reels
Rock me mama anyway you feels
Hey mama rock me
Rock me mama like the wind and rain
Rock me mama like a big wake can
Hey mama rock me
